Executive
Team:
David Beaver,
Founder, Chairman, Creative Director
David
studied nuclear engineering and physics
at The University of Virginia and the
psychology and sociology of perception
and the philosophy of science at The
University of Richmond. David worked
for almost a decade as a professional
magician, performing in nightclubs,
theaters, corporate functions and other
venues. He designed magic for local
television commercials and designed
his own series of magic plays employing
magic, drama, dance and high-tech special
effects of his own design.
In addition to Mindspace Multimedia
Inc., David also founded The
World Space Center, a not for
profit working group that produced
the First Overview Effect Conference,
held in Arlington Virginia,
on July 18th 2007. This conference
and the Overview Institute that
its participants have begun
the process of founding, is
the primary group in the modern
space movement and industry
focused on examining, researching,
and educating about the psychological
and sociological impact to space
flight.
David holds three US and International
patents for the invention of The Magic
Stage, a virtual reality theater technology.
He has created a new theory of stage
magic; called Projection theory, based
on modern cognitive perception science
rather than the traditional magic theories
of deception and misdirection. He has
written and lectured on Projection Theory’s
relationship to design, perception,
art, film, virtual reality and other
fields in graduate seminars at a number
of major universities including recent
seminars at the Duke University Center
for Cognitive Neuroscience. He has consulted
for numerous businesses and other organizations.
He has written two yet to be published
books on his magic and perception research
and a third, Applied Magic, is in process.
Today David writes, researches, lectures,
designs and consults on Projection Theory
and its many applications.
Roger Harris
– Chief Executive Officer
As director of Emerging Technologies
and Research Analysis at Sigma Xi, a
60K member global scientific society,
Roger has been a recognized thought
leader and early adopter of new communication
technologies to achieve strategic business
goals. He is expert at developing statistical
approaches to research and analyze organization
function, industry positioning, and
demographic data and customer behavior.
He uses a combination of approaches
to engage stakeholders including E-mail
marketing, social media analysis, branding
and marketing strategies, survey design
and analysis, Web site audience development
and performance metrics. For Sigma Xi,
he lead the organization’s Web 2.0 initiative
evaluating strategies for external and
internal communication technologies
to implement key business plan features.
He strategized, guided and supervised
departmental operations which raised
organizational visibility and increased
member numbers and staff efficiency,
managing a substantial annual budget.
Among his accomplishments, Roger was
a key organizer of Sigma Xi’s Annual
Meetings in 2006 and 2007 building relationships
with the event’s major sponsor, General
Motors. He led organization of the Society’s
high profile event in 2006, Sally Ride
Science’s TOYChallenge, including liaison
with guest speaker Kathy Sullivan, America’s
first woman in space. In 2005 he was
an invited judge for the TOYChallenge
East Coast National Finals.
Roger has played a leading role in several
start ups, including his own tour operator
travel business, an online photography
website, and two educational institutions.
Roger has given dozens of presentations
to schools, museums, civic groups and
businesses. He is a member of the Science
Communicators of North Carolina, the
National Association of Science Writers
and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research
Society.
David Pucel
– Chief Operating Officer, General Manager
David John Pucel has over 20 years experience
in all facets of management and marketing.
David has a solid background in large
store management, multi-store management,
hardlines, softlines, food service,
and management training. His experience
also involves accounting, customer relations,
purchasing, implementing rewards programs,
and working with various forms of media
for advertising and promotions. David
has been a store manager for Dalmar
Video, a North Carolina LLC and also
was the Advertising and Marketing Director
for the Raleigh, NC based chain. He
has owned his own advertising and marketing
firm, Darda Vici Advertising and Design,
Inc. David also served as Project Manager
for Design Magic, Inc., a start-up company
with 35 employees and the inventor of
the world’s first live stage virtual
reality optical system.
He was the North Carolina Regional Training
Manager for Tuesday Morning, Inc., a
700+ store national closeout retailer
of upscale, decorative home accessories
and gifts. He took on the role of acting
Regional Manager while working for Tuesday
Morning and was responsible for opening
their Fayetteville, NC and Salisbury,
NC stores. Currently David is involved
in store management for Caribou Coffee
Company, the nation’s second largest
specialty coffee retailer.
David studied computer science
at the University of Massachusetts,
Amherst and computer engineering
and business management at North
Carolina State University. He
also studied Nuclear Power while
serving in the US Navy and was
qualified as a Submarine Nuclear
Reactor Operator. David is a
member of MENSA, an avid photographer
and a single father of four.
He has lived in Raleigh, NC
since 1987.
Jason Clark
– Chief Technical Officer
Jason P. Clark has been active in the
tech industry for over 10 years, starting
several companies and developing a wide
array of skills ranging from network
infrastructures to various forms of
multimedia content development. In
1997 Mr. Clark started (Mobile-Tech)
a mobile repair service, later selling
it for a profit. He was founder and
CEO of Triangle Computer Consulting,
which offered services such as network
design - installation, repair, antiquated
system upgrade, and data transfer.
He founded Shopcary.com and Shoprdu.com
which offered city search services,
which he also sold for a profit. He
developed a patent for Uni-Directional
audio navigation for the visually impaired
that integrated text with voice software
to read content, receiving both national
and international patents that were
later bought by Hewlett Packard.
Mr. Clark began Digital Media
Solutions, a multimedia production
house that innovated new ways
of using 3D elements in Flash
to create 3D navigation systems.
It was ranked 1st in the nation
among the Flash development
community. Digital media solutions
acquired an OC3 connection and
began Gen X, a streaming media
live web broadcast station whose
clients included the Carolina
Hurricanes and Ray Price Harley
Davidson. Mr. Clark developed
real-time advertising techniques
by tracking the number of online
viewers during live shows to
deliver certified impression
counts. He has also developed
a variety of business plans
for more than a dozen startup
companies with a 70% success
rate in acquiring funding.
Mr. Clark has a Computer Sciences
degree with a major in IT infrastructure.
He is also a member of MENSA
and active in community development
programs that assist inner-city
youth by teaching them both
computer and entrepreneur skills.
David Allan – Vice President for Venue
Management
Mr. Allen is a specialist in employee
retention, as a business owner, frontline
manager, consultant and a co-developer
of PeerPlus. He has over 25 years experience
in owning, operating and consulting
to businesses including restaurants,
data processing, health care, manufacturing
and university sports teams. His clients
include: McDonalds Corporation, Lash
Healthcare Consultants, University of
North Carolina Athletic Department,
NC State University Athletic Department,
Duke University Athletic Department,
CASL, Keyser Permanente and A. Stucki
Company to name a few. Mr. Allen is
a graduate of the University of North
Carolina, a member of the Council of
Hotel Restaurant Trainers Association
(CHART) & a member of The American Society
For Training & Development (ASTD).
Jeff Krukin
– Director of Space Community Relations
Jeff is currently Executive Director
of the Space Frontier Foundation (SFF),
one of the leading organizations in
the citizen space movement. Jeff's space
career began in 1979 with a summer job
at NASA Headquarters. He returned to
NASA Headquarters in 1981, with a six-month
graduate internship in the International
Affairs Division. He was an IBM Systems
Engineer at NASA's Johnson Space Center
(1981-1985) where he sold and supported
mainframes, networks, servers and personal
computers. Jeff became an SFF board
member in 1995 and the first Director
of Advocates the following year. In
1997 he became a ProSpace Board Member
and Director of the 1998 March Storm
lobbying event, for which he received
the 1998 ProSpace Activist of the Year
Award. In 1999 he became Vice President
and continued as Director of March Storm.
He became Chairman in 2002 and served
until 2004. In January 2005, Jeff became
the Executive Director of SFF. Jeff
has extensive executive-level connections
throughout the space industry, including
Federal and state regulators along with
entrepreneurial and traditional aerospace
companies.
Jeff is the recipient of numerous leadership
awards in both space and information
technology. His career has emphasized
strategic business and technology planning,
implementation, along with technical
sales and marketing. He is a space expert
for TechCast.org, has been a contributor
to NASA’s space exploration plan and
the US Dept. of Commerce/Office of Space
Commercialization strategic plan (2006
– 2007), and serves on the Steering
Committee (2004- ) of the International
Association of Space Entrepreneurs.
Jeff has received several grants, delivered
dozens of speeches and presentations
and led workshops for such clients as
the National Defense University, The
European Space Agency, the Federal Aviation
Administration, World Future Society,
Texas A&M University and many more.
He has been interviewed by numerous
news outlets including The Washington
Times, National Geographic News, and
the Los Angeles Business journal among
many others. He has written a monthly
syndicated column covering the space
industry, and written dozens of white
papers, articles and op-ed pieces.
Jeff has a B.A. in Sociology/Psychology,
George Washington University and an
M.S. in Studies of the Future, University
of Houston/Clear Lake .
